All marketing is handled by International Publishers Marketing and its experienced staff. Marketing is currently focused on introducing Capital authors and our publishing program to the trade and the public. We concentrate on media and public appearances for our authors, reviews for their books in influential publications, two seasonal catalogs mailed to key accounts, and co-operative trade advertising to support the efforts of the commissioned sales representatives utilized by IPM. During our first year we have had authors on The Today Show, Diane Rehm, Newshour with Jim Lehrer, Fox Noon News, the Discovery Channel, as well as print reviews and features in such publications as The Washington Post, Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, Chicago Tribune, Boston Globe, and advertisements in The New York Times, L.A. Times, National Geographic and more.

In addition to its bookstore trade representatives, IPM utilizes a special sales company to concentrate on specialty catalogers, e-commerce, book clubs, premium marketing professionals, meeting planners, military buyers, fundraisers, home shopping networks, and medical specialties—markets where how-to books are in demand. IPM’s academic sales representatives present those titles appropriate to the college market to professors nationwide.

Capital aims to help our authors build their businesses and reputations through publication of books with us. Our aim is to grow along with them and provide them with the personalized editorial and marketing services they want and seldom get from larger publishers, so that they will become established Capital Books authors with a new book coming out each year. As the number of each author’s titles grows along with title offerings in certain subject areas, Capital uses direct marketing and more subject-specific marketing strategies, utilizing IPM’s staff and experience.
